What's interesting about this young male is that the dots behind his eye are coming in with a bluish cast on a reflective, saddle shaped background. I haven't seen that particular trait in many, many generations, but I guess it is still in the genetic mix.
The individual below is a brother to the fish above. Note that the lighting on the photograph has most of the fish's reflective coating 'switched-off' by the lighting conditions. I think it's interesting that when the reflective coat is hit by the light that the fish have brilliant, metallic coloring, but when the light isn't right, they blend into the background.
